About Us
Bhabna NZ is a community-driven Bengali organisation based in Auckland, New Zealand, dedicated to bringing Bengalis together through culture, traditions, and meaningful connections. Since its establishment in 2002, Bhabna has grown from a small circle of families and friends into a thriving Bengali Community in Auckland with members from different parts of New Zealand.
At its core, Bhabna is about staying connected to our roots while building a strong sense of belonging in a new country. As an active Bengali Community in New Zealand, we create opportunities for people of all ages to come together, celebrate traditions, and pass cultural values on to future generations.
Our calendar is filled with vibrant Bengali Celebrations and community events throughout the year. We proudly organise festivals such as Kali Puja, Poila Boishakh, Saraswati Puja, Mahalaya, Kojagori Lakshmi Puja, Dol/Holi, and Independence Day celebrations. Each event is a mix of culture, devotion, food, music, and togetherness that helps recreate the warmth of Bengal here in New Zealand.

One of the highlights of our community activities is the annual bengali cultural program, where members showcase dance, music, drama, poetry, and other creative performances. These programs not only celebrate Bengali heritage but also encourage younger generations to stay connected with their cultural identity.
Bhabna is also known for organising enjoyable social and sporting events including a Badminton tournament, Cricket tournament, Sports Day, family gatherings, and the much-anticipated Christmas Picnic. These events help build friendships and strengthen the bond within the community beyond festivals and formal celebrations.
We also actively participate in and support larger community celebrations across Auckland, including Durga Puja and Eid festivities alongside fellow Bengali organisations, reflecting the inclusive and welcoming nature of our community.
Whether you have recently moved to New Zealand or have been here for many years, Bhabna welcomes everyone who wishes to stay connected to Bengali culture, traditions, and community life.
We are Indian by Soul and Bengali by Heart.
